Bolto0n Post Office. Such a grand Post Offices in a large town is a rarity these days as most have been relocated to WHSmith and the building converted into a Wetherspoons.

Bolton Woo worths, looking a bit sorry for itself. Perhaps it will soon be a casualty of the store's current policy of closing central branches and concentrating on smaller district centres.
The huge Brutalist hulk of Marks & Spencer. The aesthetic appeal of the building is not helped by the huge mansard roof. There was a dreadful busker outside but luckily he is out of shot here.

A Virgin Voyager train approaches Bolton station. Virgin have recently lost this franchise so the current branding and colour scheme will no doubt soon be changing (again)
Whoever said that 'Up North' is full of "Dark Satanic Mills" was wrong; they've all been pulled down and replaced with luxury apartments (much like the rest of the UK then). Here are a couple of surviving mills but they're an endangered breed.
