A view from Hungerford Bridge, looking West along the River Thames on a late autumn morning.
A similiar view
BBC Television Centre, in Wood Lane. This gigantic complex near Shepherd's Bush was opened in 1960 although it has been majorly extened through the years.
Television Centre. The most recently opened part of the complex can be seen to the extreme right and contains a new Reception area and the entire BBC News operation.
The original entrance to TVC is on the right. The large wall with the BBC logo on it conceals the largest studio in the complex.
Another view of TVC. Photography inside the grounds is strictly forbidden except for from this designated point which is a shame as the place is fascinating. If you want to see inside it, you will have to go on a guided tour - see http://www.bbc.co.uk/tours for info. It's open to anyone (for a reasonable charge ) and is good value.
A very interesting building in Edgware Road
This very Brutalist structure in Edgware Road is somewhat reminiscent of a Soviet housing project!
A very interestingly detailed multi-storey car park off Oxford Street.
Piccadilly Circus.
The Brunswick Cemtre, near Russell Square. This huge housing project and shopping centre is a bastion of Brutalism
These concrete towers look almost futuristic! The Brunswick has recently been refurbished with the concrete being cleaned and/or painted.
A side view of one of the Brunswick's blocks, showing an interesting cross -section that would work well as a football terrace
Front facade of the Brunswick.
