New College, Southampton - The End

New College, Southampton, is currently in the process of being demolished.  I will endeavour to take photos of the demolition to record the sad passing of this institution.

Southampton Central Health Clinic and Ambulance Station demolition

Saturday 12th July 2008

I was passing the campus and noticed loads of people flooding out of the church next door onto the site (where I think they had cars parked).  Being an opportunist, I mingled with the crowd and sneaked onto the site until a Security guard told me to leave the site

View from Archer's Road, the last part of the Avenue Building can be seen in the background where the swimming pool used to be in the foreground. The remains of the Debrabant block can be seen to the left.  The building containing the gyms and boiler room has gone completely, as have the various ramshackle outbuildings nearby The last part of the Avenue Building, viewed from just inside the main entrance at the SE of the site.   I am very disappointed that this has been pulled down as it is a nice old building and could easily have been converted into apartments or offices.

Remains of the Debrabant, the pale green wall at the back of the former gym can be see here The Southern end of the Avenue Building Security at the Southern end of the Avenue Building.  The gates were wide open but this security guard stopped me taking any more photos.
