Bridlington

A department store in Bridlington, one of those seaside towns that are unwelcoming out of season.

Somebody forgot to put the windows in. Either that or the building was sponsored by the Bridlington Brick & Block Corporation

Bridlington Harbour, very nice in the summer but on a cold and windy day in early March?

Seaside architecture. It's very unusual to see a shoe shop in this sort of location, normally it's amusement arcades, cafes and tacky gift shops

Help Me, I'm In Bridlington!

Another feature of seaside towns with harbours, loads of Boat Ride signs.

The sign says it all! Despite the strong winds, two plucky anglers insisted to the steward on patrol that they be allowed to fish off the pier, despite advising them to read the sign.

A close-up of the harbourside concrete

A funfair and an old land-mine (another regular feature of some seaside towns)

Look how choppy that sea is!

What seaside town would be complete without a load of amusement arcades? Bridlington has dozens of them and they're all open, despite the distinct lack of any tourists. I went in one to use up some 2p coins and there was nobody else in there. How on earth do they survive, must cost a fortune in electricity bills!

Wow, seaside amusement architecture at its best

A pleasant albeit windswept seafront garden spolied only by the oppresive tower block (and the weather)
