Doncaster

Bridlington's vaguely Art-Deco railway station

TJ Hughes department store, strongly inspired by Erich Mendelsohn's 'Schocken' department store in Germany (Google it if you're interested)

The Frenchgate (formerly Arndale) shopping Centre in Doncaster which has been substantially modernised (the interior looks very new indeed and the centre has also been massively extended recently).

The Frenchgate Centre, showing some of the original features. Google 'Doncaster Arndale' for a photo of how it used to look.

Doncaster market

No sign of Greggs or Subway here

Spot the Greggs (I bought some sausage rolls from the Greggs in the Frenchgate Centre [due to the extinction of the traditional baker's shop] and they were lukewarm. Disgraceful)

The massive new additional to the Frenchgate centre showing that windows are still out of fashion. The cavernous hole beneath this hulk of grey metal cladding is the new bus station (despite similiar dingy undercover bus stations in Cumbernauld and Northampton being hated strongly by the public in a recent poll). Nothing changes really, does it?

A very nice Church in Doncaster

This corner of the Frenchgate still has original architectural features. I'm not sure covering everything in grey metal does a lot to enhance the appearance.
